Ancient settlement of Persqop

The ancient city is located on the side of Vila Mountain, which is the last highest peak of the mountain range of Krraba (590 meters of height). Its strategic position made it possible to control a vast territory and roads crossing these regions.
Referring to the periodicity of the fortifications of Southern Illyria and Epirus, from the architectural point of view, Persqop belonged to the period spanning the second half of IV century BC.
This is the only fragment of the fortification wall, the highest one conserved throughout the territory of Albania, with an extension, about 60 meters of length and 7 meters of height with 10 lines of stones. The entrance is transversal, with a width of about 2.6 meters. The walls are built with two partitions of quadratic stone blocks.
In addition to the ancient walls, a number of traces of the dwellings are saved in Persqop, as well as traces of a tomb and an aqueduct that was supplied with water from Vila Mountain.
